It's 2022, why are schools still segregated?

After reading through the module and watching the videos, I believe that the reason schools are still segregated in 2022 is simply due to a lack of knowledge from society. Many people, myself included (until now), are unaware of the unconstitutional policies enacted by the government that set African Americans up for failure. An example of one of these policies would be the Federal Housing Administration which subsudized homes on the condition that they would only be sold to white families. Instances like these are harming society and our country as a whole. People need to learn about these things going on around us in order to make a change. If people are unaware of these issues then nothing can be put in place to make a positive difference. One thing we can do as American citizens to make a change regarding this issue would be to educate others on the problems and spread awareness wherever we can so that way more people can be informed about the problem. Teachers are a key component in this plan to improve society because teachers are a main resource of information for a lot of people. I think if more teachers discussed these issues with their students then more people would be aware of these problems and our society can become a better place for African Americans. I almost feel guilty for not knowing about these issues sooner because up until now, I had no idea that these things were going on. I’m glad I got the opportunity to learn about this and now that I know these things are happening I can help spread awareness where I can.
